Moroes and his Elusion

Well, Moroes continues to elude more permanant death (he is already undead, after all) for New Moon. There’s just something about our strategy that isn’t right. The best we’ve done on him was with a melee-intensive group, so maybe that’s the trick; that and 2 priests along to shackle with.

One thing I’ve learned is that higher level content is very unforgiving. You need to be tight and on your game. Maybe that’s it, or maybe we just aren’t doing something correctly. Oh well, we will just keep trying.

On an up note, the Boots of Elusion dropped off a trash mob. A few of us rolled and I dropped a 100 on my roll. I guess I must have really wanted those boots, huh?

7%!! :’(

Hi folks! Have you missed me? I’ve been taking it a little bit slow as of late, trying to avoid WoW burnout.

But this week, I stepped back into Karazhan with New Moon. We switched it up a bit with Arzen switching from Fury to Protection and Barinath switching over to Retribution. Bari, thanks for the Sanctity Aura Holy Damage Yummy Goodness Threat boost!!

I’d never tanked with Arzen before, but he and I started to figure things out pretty well. Certain pulls were great for his Pheonix-looking crossbow and other were perfect for my Captain America impersonation.

We had some “technical difficulties” during our first Attumen fight. Haliot (Healing Priest Extraordinaire), got some invalid spell or invalid target errors, or something like that. That cost us a wipe. But on the second attempt, it worked like clockwork. Down with Attumen and up come the same drops that we have seen from him the last a few times. Oh well, thank goodness for disenchanters.

We had a pretty melee intensive raid group, so Maiden didn’t seem like a good idea. Therefore we gave Moroes a try. We gave him a try and then another and then a couple of more. We reset him a few times to avoid the wipe. Whether that’s cheating or not, it sure saves on repair bills.

At first, we had Arzen main-tanking Moroes, but something just wasn’t working right with the mix we had; so we agreed to switch it up. I started main-tanking him with Arzen taking one or two of his friends, all while maintaining some good aggro on Moroes. I must admit, I was impressed at how well Arzen stayed #2 on Moroes’s threat list. I need to work on my off-tanking skills a bit. Anyway, on our last attempt, everything looked like it was working perfectly. We took down one add, then somehow we lost Taelina, and early in the fight too. I think losing a shadow priest that early really hurt us, not to mention one less person who can shackle now.

Anyway, we got Moroes down to 7% before we wiped. We were so close!! And this is by far the lowest we’ve gotten him down. There is hope for us yet, and I’m looking forward to trying him again. Moroes, New Moon’s got your number, buddy!!
